For any of you that are runners out there, you may have experienced one of the most common running injuries, illiotibial band syndrome (ITB). Runners with the syndrome can be sidelined for weeks because of this condition. The IT bandis a connective tissue that starts at your hip and runs just below your knee. People who are experiencing ITB syndrome will have pain on the outside of the knee and may experience “hip snapping” when walking.
I have personally suffered from ITB syndrome. Besides my outer knee aching, once at the gym I had a trainer come to me and say he could see my “hip snapping” while on the elliptical. It was then I knew I had to do something about this problem before it turned into a more serious injury.
Besides a foam roller, the best way to treat your ITB syndrome is with a visit to a chiropractor. Your chiropractor will be able to assess your situation and treat your injury.
